Uses of Micardis

Micardis is a prescription drug used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It reduces the risk of cardiovascular complications, such as stroke and heart attack in adults. Micardis is available under the generic name Telmisartan.

Micardis is part of a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB). This drug class works by widening the blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow and circulation.

Micardis Precautions and Warnings

Do not use Micardis if you are allergic to it. This medicine may be prohibited for usage if you have severe kidney disease. To ensure Micardis is safe to consume, tell your healthcare professional if you have a history of the following:

• Cardiovascular problems
• Liver disease
• Kidney infection

Micardis Dosage

Below is the recommended dosage of Micardis:

• For the initial dose, take 40 mg of Micardis orally once per day – or as per your doctor’s advice.
• If maintenance treatment is necessary, move to higher doses of Micardis orally once per day.

• Stuffy nose
• Back pain
• Diarrhea
• Lightheadedness
• Little urination
• Swelling
• Skin ulcer
• Nausea
• Weakness
• Chest pain
