Uses of Cyclen

Cyclen is identified as a group of prescription oral contraceptive drugs. It is sold under the trade name Norgestimate and Ethinyl estradiol, both of which prevent pregnancy and acne vulgaris. It is suitable for usage to females age 15 years and above.

Precautions and Warnings

You are not allowed to consume this medicine if you are:

• hypersensitive to norgestimate and Ethinyl estradiol
• with a history of blood clotting
• with a history of stroke
• pregnant or planning to get pregnant

Dosage

For a 21-day pack of Cyclen treatment:

• One tablet of Cyclen to be consumed per day (21 consecutive days of treatment)

For a 28-day pack of Cyclen treatment:

• One tablet of Cyclen to be consumed per day (28 consecutive days of treatment)

Side Effects

The adverse reactions in consuming Cyclen can be severe. However, there are still some that are manageable. These are as follows:

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Tenderness of the breast
• Acne
• Nervousness
• Weight change
• Headache
• Bleeding
• Itchiness of the vagina
• Vaginal discharge
• Rashes

Severe Side Effects:

• Symptoms of stroke (numbness, severe headache, speech problems)
• Vision loss
• Chest pain
• Coughing up blood
• Shortness of breath
• Nausea
• Sweating
• Lack of appetite
• Jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin)
• Breast lump
• Depression
• Sleeping problem
