Uses of Patanol

Patanol is a prescription medicine and a form of antihistamine used to treat eye itchiness and redness triggered by allergies. It naturally reduces histamines (chemicals in the body) that cause the symptoms of watery and irritated eyes. Patanol is available under the generic name Olopatadine ophthalmic.

Patanol Precautions and Warnings

Before using this eye treatment, ensure you don’t have any eye surgery or infection history. However, if you have, consult your healthcare professional first to ensure your safety. Avoid administering Patanol eye drops with your contact lenses on.

Do not use Patanol if you are allergic to it, particularly its active ingredient, olopatadine. Children below two years are not allowed to use this medicine. If pregnant or breastfeeding, speak with your healthcare professional before utilizing this eye drop.

Patanol Dosage

Wash your hands first before administering Patanol eye drops. Apply only when needed or as prescribed by your healthcare professional.

When applying, tilt your head back and make a small pouch or pocket on your lower eyelid. Hold the dropper above your eyes and squeeze a drop into the pocket. Once the drops have reached the pocket, close your eyes for about 1 to 2 minutes. Do the same process to the other affected eye.
