Trulicity vs Ozempic. Too much sugar in your blood is a common medical issue known as type 2 diabetes. Exercise and a balanced diet are crucial for managing Type 2 diabetes. More often than not, your doctor may prescribe you some medications to help manage your blood sugar levels effectively.

Trulicity (dulaglutide) and Ozempic (semaglutide) are two injectable drugs for Type 2 diabetes. They both function the same way in managing your condition.

But the question is: how are they different? Is one more effective than the other? Continue reading to learn more about the difference between Trulicity and Ozempic.

What Is Trulicity?

Trulicity is used to treat type 2 diabetes manufactured by Eli Lilly and Company and contains the active ingredient dulaglutide.  Adults usually receive a Trulicity injection once per week.

Trulicity cannot treat diabetic ketoacidosis or type 1 diabetes. However, when used according to instructions, it may reduce the risk of various type 2 diabetes-related health issues, such as heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, nerve damage, eye issues, and gum disease.

What Is Ozempic?

Like Trulicity, Ozempic is also often injected once per week to treat type 2 diabetes. It facilitates weight loss by reducing the speed at which the stomach empties.

Additionally, the FDA has approved it for use in chronic weight management. It is produced by Novo Nordisk and contains semaglutide as the active ingredient. When blood sugar levels are high, Ozempic works by assisting the pancreas in releasing the proper quantity of insulin.

What Is The Difference Between Trulicity and Ozempic?

Adults should take Ozempic and Trulicity in addition to thorough diet and fitness plans. It is not recommended to use Trulicity or Ozempic as a quick treatment for type 2 diabetes or weight loss.

Both drugs can lessen the risk of stroke, heart attack, or death among patients with type 2 diabetes who also have heart and blood vessel conditions.

Trulicity is only permitted for use in individuals with type 2 diabetes. On the other hand, the use of Ozempic is allowed in patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more. Patients who have a BMI of 27 or higher can also take it with a metabolic health issue, such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure.
