Aripiprazole

Aripiprazole is an atypical antipsychotic used to treat conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. It helps balance neurotransmitters in the brain, improving mood, behavior, and thinking. It may also be prescribed for irritability in autism spectrum disorder and Tourette syndrome.

• The injectable form is usually administered by a healthcare professional

Warnings and Precautions

• May increase the risk of suicidal thoughts, especially in young adults
• Can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and low blood pressure, increasing fall risk
• May lead to uncontrollable movements in some patients, known as tardive dyskinesia
• Increases the risk of high blood sugar, weight gain, and high cholesterol
• Not recommended for elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis due to increased risk of stroke
• Should be used with caution in people with heart disease, diabetes, or a history of seizures

Usage Instructions

• Take aripiprazole at the same time each day
• Can be taken with or without food
• Orally disintegrating tablets should dissolve on the tongue before swallowing
• Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without consulting a doctor
• If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless it is close to the next dose

Storage Information

• Store at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F)
• Keep away from moisture and direct sunlight
• Liquid formulations should not be frozen
• Store out of reach of children and pets
