Zolmitriptan

Zolmitriptan is a selective serotonin receptor agonist used to treat acute migraine attacks, with or without aura, in adults. It works by narrowing blood vessels in the brain and reducing the release of inflammatory neuropeptides, helping to relieve migraine symptoms such as headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound.

Dosage

• Nasal spray: typically 2.5 mg in one nostril; may repeat after 2 hours if needed
• Not intended for prevention of migraines—use only during acute attacks

Warnings and Precautions

• Not recommended in patients with coronary artery disease, stroke, or uncontrolled hypertension
• Risk of serotonin syndrome when used with other serotonergic drugs (e.g. SSRIs, SNRIs)
• May cause chest pain, pressure, or tightness—seek medical help if severe
• Use with caution in patients with liver impairment—dose adjustment may be necessary
• Not approved for use in hemiplegic or basilar migraine
• Safety not established for use in children or during pregnancy—use only if clearly needed

Usage Instructions

• Take as soon as migraine symptoms begin
• Do not use more than the prescribed amount
• Do not take more than 10 mg in 24 hours
• Consult a doctor if headaches persist or worsen, or if you need treatment more than 4 times per month

• Store at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F)
