What is Komboglyze?
Komboglyze is a prescription oral medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is a combination of two drugs, saxagliptin and metformin, that work together to control blood sugar levels. Komboglyze is typically used in combination with diet and exercise to help manage diabetes. It can help lower blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of serious complications of diabetes, such as kidney damage, blindness, and nerve problems. Komboglyze is only available by prescription and should be used under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
How Komboglyze works?
Saxagliptin, also known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors, is a member of a group of medications referred to as DPP-4 inhibitors. Following a meal, saxagliptin aids in lowering blood sugar levels. It stops crucial hormones involved in digestion, hunger, and eating from breaking down. These hormones play a significant role in controlling blood sugar levels, and when their breakdown is prevented, the pancreas is able to produce more insulin. Additionally, it reduces pancreatic glucagon synthesis, which would otherwise raise blood sugar levels. Additionally, saxagliptin reduces blood sugar levels between meals and aids in reducing your body’s production of sugar.
