Sprycel is a targeted oral medication used to treat certain types of leukemia, including Philadelphia chromosome–positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). It works by blocking BCR-ABL and other kinases involved in the growth of cancer cells, helping to slow or stop their spread.

- Often used when patients are resistant or intolerant to other leukemia treatments.
- Helps achieve or maintain remission in both newly diagnosed and previously treated patients.
- Oral tablet offers a convenient at-home treatment option.
- Can be used in both adults and children with appropriate medical supervision.
Dosage
- For adults with chronic phase CML, the usual dose is 100 mg once daily.
- For accelerated or blast phase CML, or Ph+ ALL, the dose is typically 140 mg once daily.
- Pediatric doses are based on body size and medical guidelines.
- Tablets should be taken at the same time each day, with or without food.
- Swallow whole — do not crush, split, or chew the tablets.
Warnings and Precautions

- Can lower blood cell counts — regular blood tests are necessary.
- Risk of bleeding, particularly in patients with low platelet counts.
