Uses of Ciprofloxacin/ Dexamethasone 0.3%/0.1%

Ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone combination ear drops is used to treat ear infections, such as acute otitis externa and acute otitis media. Otitis externa, also known as swimmer’s ear, is an infection of the outer ear canal caused by bacteria.

Precautions and Warnings

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to ciprofloxacin or dexamethasone; or to quinolone antibiotics (such as levofloxacin); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients (such as preservatives like benzalkonium chloride), which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: ear infections caused by a fungus or virus (such as herpes simplex).

Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).

During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Dosage

Use this medication in the infected ear as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily (every 12 hours). Use in the ear only. Do not use in the eyes. The ear canal should be clean and dry before using this medication.
