Retevmo

Retevmo is a targeted therapy used to treat cancers that have specific genetic alterations in the RET gene. It is approved for certain types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), thyroid cancer, and medullary thyroid cancer. By blocking abnormal RET signals, Retevmo helps slow or stop the growth of cancer cells.

Warnings and Precautions

• May affect liver function — regular liver tests are recommended.
• Can prolong the QT interval, increasing the risk of heart rhythm problems.
• Risk of high blood pressure — blood pressure should be monitored.
• May cause bleeding or allergic reactions in rare cases.
• Use with caution in patients with existing liver, kidney, or heart conditions.
• Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Usage Instructions

• Take Retevmo twice daily, about 12 hours apart.
• Can be taken with or without food, but always consistently.
• Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water.
• If a dose is missed and it’s less than 6 hours from the next dose, skip it. Do not take two doses at once.
• Keep up with regular doctor appointments and blood tests to monitor response and side effects.

Common Side Effects

• Mild to moderate effects: dry mouth, diarrhea, high blood pressure, constipation, swelling, fatigue, or rash.
• Serious (seek medical attention): liver problems (such as yellowing of the skin or dark urine), bleeding, severe abdominal pain, chest pain, or signs of heart rhythm changes.
