Copaxone

Copaxone (glatiramer acetate) is an injectable medication used to reduce the frequency of relapses in people with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). It modifies immune activity to prevent nerve damage.

Benefits
• Helps lower relapse rate in MS
• Does not require routine lab monitoring
• Can be self-injected at home
• May slow disease progression over time

Dosage
• 20 mg once daily or 40 mg three times weekly
• Injected subcutaneously into the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm
• Rotate injection sites with each dose
• Do not inject into irritated or scarred skin

Warnings and Precautions
• May cause immediate post-injection reactions like flushing or chest tightness
• Use caution in people with known allergies to mannitol
• Not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly needed
• Monitor for lipoatrophy at injection sites

Usage Instructions
• Wash hands and prepare injection with clean technique
• Inject into fatty tissue, not muscle
• Dispose of used syringes properly
• Store refrigerated but allow to reach room temperature before use

Storage Information
• Store at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F)
• Protect from light
• May be stored at room temperature (up to 25°C or 77°F) for 1 month
• Keep out of reach of children

Common Side Effects
• Injection site redness or pain
• Flu-like symptoms
• Flushing
• Chest discomfort
• Shortness of breath
